dc.description This propeller was built in 1918 by Great Lakes Engineering Works, Ecorse, Michigan. She was owned by U.S. Shipping Board, Boston, Massachusetts, until 1927, when she was sold to Ford Motor Company, Detroit, Michigan. She was sold to Cullum Transportation Company, New York, New York, in 1945. She was laid down as "War Sphinx" for Cunard Steamship Company, agent for the Shipping Controller, London, England. Requisitioned by the U.S. Shipping Board under the Urgent Deficiencies Act of June 13, 1917. She foundered February 14, 1946, under tow from New York for Boston with coal, three miles off Watch Hill, Rhode Island. en_US
